On June 24, 2009 all the gaming community was shocked by an event that, according to IGN, has changed the gaming world.
Id Software announced it has been sold to ZeniMax Media, Bethesda Softworks' parent company. Until today's deal, id Software was one of the last large independent game developers.
Will they abandon all the future releases of Doom and Quake series?
Of course not...
According to IGN, "the deal will let id grow and recruit new talent, so perhaps we'll see more games from id in the future. However, from here on out, Bethesda will publish id's games, save for the action game Rage, which is still due to be released by EA".
Another interesting sources:
According to Los Angeles Times,
"Id will continue to operate as a studio under the direction of founder John Carmack. No changes will be made in the operations of Id's game development. All the Id principals have signed long-term employment contracts, ensuring that they will continue in their roles developing games at the studio".
So, stay tuned for more great games from id software.
